I LOVE 70s Watches! And This is Everything a 70s Watch should Be!Its Big Its FunkyIts Exceptionally Well MadeI Bloody Adore This Watch!GPGIRARD-PEREGAUXGYROMATIC-SWISS-Calibre 461.383In an Exceptional & RARE Jumbo "Disco Volante" Super Stepped CaseWatch Ref. 9519.KAWell it seems like every other watch on eBay is "Rare" but it's not a term we use lightly If we say it's rare you better believe its rare! I've seen one of these before. Albeit in a pretty beat up state...This one is EXCELLENT a genuine investment grade "time capsule" watch. Super sharp completely unpolished all original radial brush & satin finish with bevelled edges. It's a stunning watch. Its pieces like this that set aside you "Good" if somewhat "same old same old" collections and genuinely interesting and UNIQUE collections. The CaseHUGE case of its era at 42.5mm in diameter, excluding almost fully integrated crown, 38mm lug tip to lug tip 20mm lug spacing, but still classically slender at only 11.20 mm tall. The case is a piece of art it's not ofter we see genuinely unique pieces in the world of watches, but this huge multi-stepped "Disco Volante" style case is one of a kind. Not seen in any other GP reference or otherwise watch. This is a Monoblock case design with access only through the crystal to the watches movement this by design makes for excellent water and dust proofing. And in a time when traditional watch companies were facing the crunch of "The Quartz Crisis," GP clearly was not cutting any corners just the tooling of this case would have cost a fortune for a presumably very limited run of watches. The case is also ALL stainless steel. This may have been a Swan song of GP before its latter Sowind Group revival but what a swan song it was!The DialMINT condition monodirectional brushed steel dial with high polish steel indexes black onyx insertsMatching hour and minute hands and smooth centre sweep seconds hand.Deep inner bezel surrounds the watch and all printing is in super fine crisp black detailRaised and applied "GP" logo at 12 as well as the surrounded date aperture at 3.The BandWhats better than finding a rare watch in excellent condition?Finding a rare watch in excellent condition with original Starp! This 20mm "W" Brick link strap is again in excellent condition again all brushed almost satin finish steel with "GP" logo on deployant type clasp. The MovementAs the watch so is the movement in EXCELLENT condition all deep gold plated.17 jewels a high beat Frequency 21,600bphA Stunning automatic Movement with A Quickset Date Feature....
